Today's park hunt turned into a woods hunt that I almost gave up on. We started out hunting a park that one of my buddies found a large cent a while back. So we new it could be good.....After spending the first part of the morning hunting the park picking up change among a ton of trash. My buddy Rich heads into the woods..... as I pluck a few coins out of the ground here and there. He comes up to me and shows me some old small bottle that I thought was pretty old. So I decided to join him.... Moments late Rich pulls a large cent from the base of a up rooted tree.....a little toasted to see a date.....then he pulls a 2nd about a foot away... Thinking to myself I would like to find one... We brake for lunch with our other buddy who I like to call XP Daveus... I bet you can guess what detector he uses.....
Rich and I both use Etracs.....After lunch I say we should go someplace else....Rich said let stays....I'm so glad we did.... About 10 minutes or so I pull a large cent..... I was now happy we stayed.... I start searching along a downed tree and I get a broken low tone on the Etrac about 6 to 8 inches down.. The top 2 to 3 inches is mulch like dirt. Then the rest of its this gray clay muck....I get the target out of the hole and Im searching the pile of muck clay with the garret carrot....I see a hint of shining yellow stuff....as my heart is pounding I pull this heavy gold pendant out.... Blown away thinking this can't be real...I show it to Rich and Dave and they both agree that's gold and its old.... It does have someone's initials on the inside of what I think is a Leo badge on one side... With a dove or some kind of bird on the other.... The crazy thing it has the same style of initials on it... Very much like on my first gold coin that turned out to be a love token.... I apologize for the long winded story...
