Metal Detecting
I’ve been avidly detecting almost every day for 3 months patiently awaiting my first gold find, well last night I finally found it, but not where I expected.

I was going to bed after an unproductive day of detecting, as I usually do I unfolded an old large checkered quilt that has been in my family as long as I can remember. As I laid it out on my bed I head a small muffled *plink* sound when the corner hit the floor, I had heard the sound before but had not further explored this prior. So I drop the quilt several more times to pinpoint the sounds origin, once I locate a small rounded bump in the corner square I perked up. I told myself it was going to be nothing so I wouldn’t be let down but deep down I was hoping it was what I thought it was.

I worked the object to the side of the square and made a small incision, as the object shone through I couldn’t believe my eyes... GOLD! A 10k gold wedding band! After all this time searching for one I found one that I sleep with every night! I called up my family and none of them knew where it came from. Needless to say it made my night, but I can’t help but wonder who hid the ring in there in the first place?

That's a sign. Get back out there.

Congratulations Kalin  That's good metal detective work on your part! Next assignment is to dig one from the ground :laughing7:
BTW, I went to school at WVU and once found a silver quarter near my sisters apartment.

I remember hearing that some widow women would take their deceased husband’s wedding ring and sow it into a quilt and part of their husband was always with them while they slep...

Congratulations on a very unique GOLD TICKET!:occasion14:

The maker of the quilt?

Look very carefully along the perimeter and see if you find a short bit of hand stitching.
That may be where the ring was slipped in there.

Banner Vote for the most unusual gold ring find.

Hard to beat, unless someone caught a fish that swallowed one.

Awesome! I love it that way! Some months ago I posted a gold ring I found in a very old dresser at my house I've had for 40 years!

Time to tear up my house lol

What's going on here!

Everyone is finding gold rings all over the place!

I'm gonna dig around in my desk,.......

Nice find. My wife is gonna be mad when I start ripping her quilts apart !

I hate to burst your bubble, but, I believe it's a gold plated ring, not solid 10K Interesting find though! :icon_thumright: Hope I'm wrong!

I thought this as well, but apparently the LP stands for plumb, as it is exactly 10k (40%)

Well done, congrats! :occasion14:

That is so intriguing! Maybe the sewer somehow lost her ring while sewing her quilt.
Its so funny how that works... you go spend money on a detector and spend hours and hours searching. Next thing you know you find gold without even putting any effort into it and without a detector! I bought a detector and found everything but gold... then one day while playing soccer on a field I happened to look down and saw something shiny.... a gold ring!!! So why did I need to spend 400 on a new machine?😂 lol

Maybe I should search my old piano while my mom and dad are out haha

where did the quilt come from? if its inside the quilt I'd say it was placed there by the sewer of the quilt.

yes, a lot of people believe that it stands for plated but this was not the case in the older gold, it was like a guarrantee thing
