So today was my first full, up at day break, non-stop hunting day. Well, I didn't do so hot, but I'm ready to head out again tomorrow.
I spent 7 hours, walked 6 miles up, and back down, the beach swinging my MD, and found about 100 pop-tops, 4 shotgun shells, a can opener, and a total of 25 cents in nickles and pennies (all 1999-2010 dates).
My best find, which was visual, was this pacifier. It just looks funny in the scoop.
I'm getting more and more fevered for this!!

what detector are you using? are you just working the waters edge? (or locations where people might have laid out and dropped stuff?) - I went to NJ last month and tried my luck at working a few different beaches- it would seem that the cleaner beaches were clean because they raked the trash off of them in the early am with a 4 wheeler. some of the clad quarters i managed to find were recently dropped, the one that I found that wasn't recent looked like it hit a grinder. some of the copper pennies looked like the salt water and sand was eating them away (very cool finding pieces of penny!) I found no jewelry (it was before the season started) and I did discover a great place to hunt before being rained out. they have board walks and amusement parks up near sandy hook (no not at sandy hook- it was at highlands park! so if your ever there! :) ) - I stopped at the closed park and noticed that all the old coin meters were missing and a new electronic meter was setup in the middle of the parking area. I rolled to the end of the area and started getting signals with my 350 just as we got slammed with a downpour- that was the end of my night there I drove about an hour south to seaside heights before hitting a hotel and never made it back there. sadly I'll bet I passed up some nice coins due to that rain storm -too bad. if your thinking this is a good idea let me know how you make out when you manage to clean up in your area! 8)

I use a White's "Coinmaster". I'm starting small and with limited funds.
The beach I was on is public, but only used by surf fisherman. You can drive on it, but if you use a vehicle you must be actively fishing, so I had to walk in. 1 mile walk just to get to where most ships coins are found.
I tried to cover as much as possible, but it's about 75 yards from the dunes to the waters edge, then miles of beach. It's a LOT to try to cover. The troughs right where the waves hit the beach are the best places to find items (I've been told), but the waves were thundering on the shore today due to the tide and winds. Not too fun. So I worked where people had parked (easy to see the tire tracks and chair marks) and some towards the water, but no luck.
I fish constantly so I, and everyone I know, won't bring anything valuble out there for fear of losing it.
I'm gonna get the dead low tide tomorrow. That'll help some.
