I know nothing about fossil hunting. Been watching a lot of videos pertains to the hobby and I’m becoming more and more interested. I work with a guy who “ rock hounds” and has a degree in geology. He told me that he found a fossil in one of our gravel parking areas. He went out there with me today in a different part of lot and lo and behold I found this. I showed it to him and he said “your first fossil!” Thanks for looking. IMG_0149.jpeg

Btw it’s a clam. Sorry for the poor quality photo

It always seemed to me that having a deep interest in fossils and actively searching for them would be a smart and satisfying hobby. That's why I never really took it up. The finds are ancient and the hunting grounds are much less likely to be stripped of interesting finds.

I mean, you found one on your lunch break in the parking lot! If you can have fun like that, then the world is your fossilized oyster!

lol!! The only problem is other workers at me facility must find it strange to see me wandering around the parking lot staring at the ground. Surprised I haven’t been pulled in for a drug test. Thanks for your reply!
