My first finds

Just got back from our weekend camping trip. We were camped right next to the Consumnes River in the El Dorado National Forest. Last night just before dark I decided to hunt a little around our camp site for fun. And this is what I found. Still trying to figure out what they are. The middle piece was about 6 to 7 inches deep and looked just like it does in the picture except for the soil I knocked off of it.

It may not have been the gold ring or silver coins you were looking for.....

but at least you know your machine works....keep at it ....

Welcome and keep at it! That appears to be melted aluminum. Find a lot of it around camp sites / campfires.
Get to know your machine and trust what you hear and your finds will become exciting. Some people tune into their machines real quick some not so quick. It took me about 100 hours before I was real comfortable trusting what I was hearing. Now I check the scale on my machine to verify what I think I am hearing when the signal is questionable.

Thank you everyone for your support. I am still looking for good places to hunt near where I live. My daughter and I tried one of the elementary school playgrounds yesterday and found 1 nickel, 2 cents and 2 bobby pins. These kids today don't carry money. All lunch money is done on computers in our area. Well, school will be out soon and we can go check them out. Again, thank you.

I too am just starting out. My first finds looked exactly the same as yours - but a week later I started finding more coins and then some rings. Keep at it and you'll find the good stuff!

I have had days like that also. I keep everything I find in buckets. It all will add up for $$$$$ at the end of the year....Matt
