MY FIRST FIND

Hi ya'll! I've been reading the posts for awhile and learning a great deal. I got my MD for Christmas and I've been on the hunt ever since! I'm going to try and post a pic of one of the first things I've found. It's a gold/brass???? fish that appears to be hand carved as the details on the front and back appear to be different, i.e., the number of lines on the fins, and the positions of the scales. Does anyone have an idea what this might have come from? I don't know if it's gold or brass. It's somewhat heavy for it's size, and solid. It was about 6" down in the sand at the beach. It was not tarnished (no green). A magnet does not attract it. Any guesses?? Any help would be appreciated.

Vicki

8) find. From my vantage point, maybe bronze. Possibly from souvenir shop? Definitely an unusual 1st find. Welcome to the forum, Vicki. Looking to more pics as you go along.

Nice find!! Welcome to the forum. No pin on the back to attach to clothing? Other than that i don't have a clue. Cool find though. HH

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. No, there's no pin on the back. It would be too heavy to wear as a pin or necklace.

Even though it's only 2.5 inches, as a first find I'd call it a "WHOPPER"! Great find & a nice pic.. Welcome to the Forum & our ever growing addiction to detecting & the Forum it'self. Spotz

Pat, I found it at a beach in Central Florida. I use a Minelab Soverein Elite. It's a really nice machine, but since I've never used any other kind, I guess I'm biased. lol

must be nice to START with a top-of-the-line machine! ;D For that size I think your fish may be a paperweight. I have seen others similar including some holding napkins at a beach bar in Pamama City. It's great that you finally got it posted! I've been wanting to see it! what a great find! good luck and Happy Hunting! 8)
