Hi, fom down here..mid summer and I went to an old battlefield of the mid 1860s..hunted below the old earthworks of the rebel held fortifications and found enfield bulletts, shrapnell off one of the several field guns that blasted them from 800 yards ...a soldiers bent heel plate and bingo I struck it lucky..my first ever button of an imperial soldier of the 70th regiment that was stationed in n/z around the time of the taranaki wars...a little piece six feet away that looks the same as what the button was made from...and another piece off brass that I would appreciate an id on ...is it a fuse holder ??....moved down to the end of the battle site and found a couple of musket balls that I guess were fired at the attacking soldiers from the fort !!! thanks for looking..des

Fantastic digs!

Hi Des Thats one hell of a piece of history ,Congrats i have been trying to find british regiment buttons for years and have not one. Hope get a helmet plate next. The chances of finding one of those is real hard. Good research to find a good site.

I like it - I want one!

Any day I dig a military button from the 18th or 19th century I consider it a good day!

Sweet button Des  Congrats on your first. I'd check that place out a few more times :laughing7:

Those are wonderful recoveries. The button is a First Rate find.

Looks like what we dig over here in the U.S. at our Civil War sites.
