Had a little time to go check out my new farm permission today. I started on what was once the main road through my county in the 1700's, which is now just a dirt road that runs through the farms pastures and corn fields of this farm. This property is just so huge, it's overwhelming, so I just hit the spots that I thought would produce right away, and I was not disappointed. Found my very first crotal bell in the first 20 min of searching beside the old road. The ground is very unforgiving and full of stone, so every dig took about 10 min, but I managed a flat button with shank intact, and one very toasted wheatie with no readable date that I thought was an IHP at first. I barely scratched the surface of this place and those 2 finds alone give me hope that I am going to pull some good finds out of it. That old road leads through a now heavily forested area, and the landowner tells me that there are 13 colonial foundations about 600 yards in off the road. I'm saving that for when I have more time.
