Got out for a quick hunt this weekend and found my first countermarked coin. It's slick, but it's the size of a Georgian half penny, so I imagine that's what it is. The site is early. None of the buttons have had back marks. And, I'm wondering if this type of mark, simple letters, could be from the 18th century.

The broken shoe buckle was a heartbreaker. I've never found a frame like this. In the picture of the topside of the buckle, it looks like the chape is on top of the frame, but look closely... That's actually a raised lip that is part of the frame itself. I've searched a little for the Willson maker's mark but haven't found anything yet.

Thimble is the smallest I've ever found. I should have put a scale in the photo. It's very small.

Thanks for looking.

Nice finds!! We found a tiny thimble once. I think ours was a monopoly piece. :laughing7:

Nicely done on the counter stamped copper, and thimble. Personally finds like those are top notch finds. Congrats.
Liking the little buckles as well.

Great finds. I have never come across a shoe buckle with a maker's mark. That's very rare in my experience.

Same here, until recently. But, I found a chape with a maker's mark and posted it a couple of weeks ago (see below), and now this one. I have about 9 complete frames and 0 complete shoe buckles. I had never even found a chape until fairly recently. I think the iron ones don't like the coastal environment.

Counter stamp is still on my bucket list. Ive got one makers mark on a buckle "Turner"

You got the right century, and that neat coin is a Geo. II,
I see him facing left.
Great haul...! :icon_thumright:
Keep diggin'...!

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing about it being KGII. Wonder if the T and C relate to a company or individual?
