Got out for a quick hunt this weekend and found my first countermarked coin. It's slick, but it's the size of a Georgian half penny, so I imagine that's what it is. The site is early. None of the buttons have had back marks. And, I'm wondering if this type of mark, simple letters, could be from the 18th century.
The broken shoe buckle was a heartbreaker. I've never found a frame like this. In the picture of the topside of the buckle, it looks like the chape is on top of the frame, but look closely... That's actually a raised lip that is part of the frame itself. I've searched a little for the Willson maker's mark but haven't found anything yet.
Thimble is the smallest I've ever found. I should have put a scale in the photo. It's very small.
Thanks for looking.
