I found this counterfeit half dollar at a foundation site I hunted about two weeks ago. It was so dirty and clearly not copper or silver so when I found it I thought it was just a washer or some other type of junk metal. I didn't find out what it was until I washed it off a couple hours later at my truck. I don't even know what compelled me to wash it off but I'm glad I did.

Very Interesting. I'd like to find a REAL Seated Half Dollar...but I'd take a FAKE one too, especially considering that I haven't found a real or fake Seated Half Dollar yet.

Very cool.

Same thing happened with my oldest coin. I never knew it until I was at home, several days later! Because it had a large hole in it, I thought it was nothing special. BUT...I always clean up every little piece. I have found some BIG surprises before in the junk bin.

I'd love to dig an old counterfeit like that. I have half of a counterfeit seated dime. One day I'll get a whole one!

Cheers,

Buck
