Hi all, I found my first Celtic cast coin on Sunday. I was digging at a spot where I have found a small Roman hoard and was very surprised when this popped out. It is from about 100 B.C. and it is from the Leuci tribe. When I dug it out I thought it was cheap jewelery. I had never heard of cast coins before.

These potin coins are amounst the oldest series of coins to be produced in Britain.(although started in France/Belgium) I assume you are in the South East?

I'm not in the right area, but I have a slim chance of one.:tongue3:

Its in pretty good nick, congrats on a scarce find.:icon_thumright:

Goes to show that you should always check out your finds no matter how much they appear to be trash in the field. I found a lump of "lead" that turned out to be over an ounce of melted silver

I live about 100 km from France. On the eastern side. Sorry the laws are not very clear here so I can't give the location.:BangHead:
