Hello all, didn't get to hunt much this weekend as I am quickly running out of hunting spots....gonna have to start asking private property owners for permission soon.....Hit my yard again Saturday hoping to find something, but after moving everything that there is to move and hunting the entire yard again and again from every possible angle, I came back with only a little trash and a lot of disappointment, buy hey, at least I got to detect!!

Sunday afternoon I decided to go to my parents house and try my luck in their yard again.? It is very flat and almost 2 acres but I haven't found much there in the past worth keeping, just a few wheaties and an old pocket knife.? Yesterday I came away with only four keepers, a 1953 wheatie, a memorial, old fishing sinker or weight, and this Eagle button that I thought was pretty cool, it ID'd as a quarter on my Prizm III.? Don't know the date on the button but I would guess from the 50's or 60's.? The back of the button reads:? Rex Products Corp New Rochelle, N.Y.? This is the first button that I have found and I'm pretty happy with it as it made my day, otherwise I would have came back with just 2 pennies.? The yard is big and has had a house there since at least the 50's, still over 3/4 of the yard left to hunt.? Surely someone would have lost at least one piece of jewelry or silver coin over the years.? Hopefully I will get some hunting time in on Thanksgiving Day, if not I'll have to wait until next weekend.? Thanks for looking!!

HH

Oh yeah, does anybody know how old the button actually is?

Congrats on a great first,,, WTG!!!
Sorry, not a clue as to the age, but some of those button go for a good chunk of $$$...
I would think being there in WV. you should be able to find some place to hunt,,, maybe someone here on the forum can give ya a tip, or two...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

Not having problems finding good places to hunt, I just have to get up the nerve to ask the property owners to hunt there. But I'm gonna have to do it cuz I'm definitely not giving up on the hobby!!

It looks like several lakes in your area, look for the beaches and old swimming holes. Alot of Civil war action in your area you should be able to do some research and get some good leads, hope that helps

Nice button!

Thanks for the link Nana, just wish I knew how old it was....

Hey Nevr, What you have is a Great Seal Button. It was started in 1902 and has been used ever since. Could be WW I or WWII It looks to be in very nice condition and is a very nice find. Congrats...Lance
