I can't rave enough about the old analog detectors. I bought a second Coinmaster (a 5000 Series 2) on eBay for a song just to keep my 5500/D company. I found this today, despite heavy, heavy trash. I swear there was junk every 1/4 inch under the ground. My first Barber dime!

Exactly Good Find. thats what makes this hobby so special is the moments when you fine some thing like that.

Sweet looking Barber, lots of detail ! Those old Whites were good detectors, I remember when you could buy them at Sears or Montgomery Wards. That's been a few years ago. :D

Trash trash trash trash trash trash BLAMMO trash trash trash trash trash BLAMMO.....Thats the way we roll!!! WTG jgas

Congrats on the silver!

Congrats on a great first find!
Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~

You found that barber the old fashioned way I say. I had a White's 6000 Di Pro for many years before upgrading to an Explorer. I was very skilled with my Whites, occasionally getting a silver coin/wheat here and there at my local parks. But let me tell you.....it was like night and day when I began using a higher-tech machine. Parks that I thought had no more oldies in them were all of a sudden feeling like virgin sites. I never thought it could be possible. It certainly made a believer out of me.....I was pulling silver coinage well beyond what I could hear with my analog Whites.....but I was willing to learn my new machine and slowly/gradually retrain my detecting style (different swing speed, understanding tone id, etc.) ....that's what it will take. And the dexterity/physical ability to dig deep. You need to be comfortable and confident with whatever machine you're using to be successful.

Congrats on your first barber! Where there's one, there's always more.

I hear you brother. Analog is underrated. I own a Whites XL-Pro 6000 and I am very satisfied indeed. I don't need a digital yet.
