Sunday is normally a day without responsibilities for me, but today was not.

I got a call from a friend who says a piece of pasture that normally has a bull residing in it, was open for me to hunt, because the bull was rented out as a sex slave to a herd of cows for a week. After half an hour of MDing I found a badge of some sort (unreadable in the field.).... RIIINNNGGG.."Yes, Honey, I'll be right home." An old friend just arrived unexpected from a three hour drive, he only has an hour, before a wedding party. Coffee, fast small talk, and back to the field...Half an hour on the field the only keeper is yet another badge, (unreadable in the field.).... RIIINNNGGG.. "Yes, Honey, I'll be right home."...My daughter-in-law has just decided to take advantage of an invitation to see a house for sale in my neck of the woods, that my wife has the key to. A one hour tour, that felt like three, another coffee, and back to the field... Half an hour later, the last of three good finds....RIIINNNGGG..."Yes, Honey, I'll be right home."...The washing machine is leaking all over the place....What do I know about it?

Well, I finally got to wash off the pieces, and see what they were. The "152" is obvious, brass with red enamel letters. No idea what it was for.

The next one was a nice surprise as it's dated 1913, and commemorates a tunnel built through the Alps to Switzerland.

And the third is some sort of badge that shows a whole bunch of Churches in a hilly valley, I guess like an association, also with some remnant red enamel.

Never ever found a badge or plaque before, and here in one day that's all I found, besides a small buckle and a handful of canslaw.

I looked at your profile to see if I could find out where you are located. Could I guess Europe somewhere?
Good finds. Interesting.
Now, way to avoid the calls back home.......woops, sorry honey. I forgot the cell phone. Left it in the car. (Its good
for at least a couple more badges, a few coins.) :)
Haven't got the slightest clue as to what any of the items are, but they would make a nice display.

I'm in Italy now.... You know, where you are suppose to find all that Roman stuff, but find out later it's all in England...;)

Those are some cool looking badges. Yea, you would think there would be some Roman stuff there. Or at least someone bring you a dish of Italian food. Then again. Going back to how you got to hunt that area. This story sounding like a bunch of [BULL] crap. :laughing9: J/K

So far , since August, I found one Roman coin that is recognizable and some "scrappies", I also found bits of a broken bronze pot I'm attributing to that era. I am in the hills, so as I get more time in the fields below in the valley, in the Spring, I'm hoping for older finds than I get up here, where the period seems to be around 1600-1900 when the houses were built, with a few 15th century pieces and the Roman finds I mentioned. The small field with the bull is a long grass only terrace in the hills, and just about the only one without trees, and therefore no roots. I can't tell you how much time I spend finger excavating under stubborn roots up here, but it has paid off with a few keepers. Just was happy to make clean obstacle-free holes for a change.
