Hi, it seems that there is so much iron around the old cellar holes that I hunt so I decided to try preserving some of the more interesting digs. I have a few pictures of a very nice cut rosehead nail found at a cellar hole, a bent nail used as a hook found at same location and a very nice twisted/bent hook found in a spot where I found civil war items. I would guess this hook was bent and twisted by the blacksmith who made it. These pieces were caked with rust when I started. I used the Sodium Hydroxide electrolisys method on them. Then I wire brushed them, brite pad scrubbed them to remove hard to get rust film and clear coated them to lock out moisture. I am very pleased with the results and can't wait to dig more iron relics. Thanks for the look.
