My first 3 cent coin

I went digging today and my first signal turned out to be a three cent 1861 coin. I didnt know what it was at first but after awhile of looking at it I realized what it was. I also dug what I think is a nipple protector for a gun carved out of a bullet. Any ideas what a coin like this could be worth?

Please, please note that these price guides are for retail prices that you might pay for problem-free coins. Dug coins are rarely ever free of problems. If you went to sell to a dealer, you'd get wholesale, or probably less as it is a dug coin. eBay might be a better gauge of value. Not that you'd probably sell anyway, but this is just for reference.

The minieball is most Certainly carved into a nipple protector for a gun. That is a great find right there. Nice coin, too.

Found my first 3 cent-er and a half dime yesterday too. I still can't believe how small and light they are, heck, I'm
afraid to touch or handle them because they really easy to drop
