Guys,

I got out for a short hunt this afternoon on a large, vacant city lot. There was a lot of 5" deep memorials in the meat of the yard. I moved over to one of the lot lines and started to parallel it toward the back, praying for silver. I was finding some 3" deep 1980s quarters. Next hit was at 3". At first I thought it was a Peso or game token, as the coin was so crisp. I instantly recognized the shield when I flipped it and knew it was a good one. I am stunned by the condition it is in. It could not have been in circulation long before it was lost.
Anyway, I am very happy, my first 2 cent piece

Stu

Wow that's a beauty! Even better than the two I just got two weeks ago (haven't posted them yet).

Congrats on the nice dig!

FANTASTIC FIND!!!

Wow!! Nice 2 center! Your soil is remarkably forgiving on copper!!
My first 2 center came from underneath a pink flagstone sidewalk
stone, and was sitting in fine sand. Not quite as nice as yours tho.

bY PHOTOGRADE IT IS AT LEAST XF 40. May drop a little because of color and being dug....

AMAZING!!!

I have never seen one in such great condition! Must have been soil with great drainage, maybe sandy soil???

WTG Stu on the 2 cent piece :o ....I have never found one, although I have a few detecting buddies that have but not nearly the condition that coin is in.

Awesome pic too..Yeah, I agree. That coin must of been lost the year it was minted or soon after.

Hope you go back to that area and find more goodies....HH

Maybe it was kept in someones bottom drawer for 50 years or so & then lost in the early 1900s. Just a theory??

wow great shape, welcome to the 2 cent club.I found mine under a sidewalk in sand, but not as nice as yours.
