my finds from a 1790's log cabin/house..need some identification!

I had an awesome oppurtunity to hunt a log cabin constructed in 1790 with a house built around it from the 1800's. It's also listed in the historical society, and from what I've seen it hasn't been hunted very well or even at all. I was there for two hours and only dug a few signals. I'm trying to figure out how old/how much the lock I dug up is worth, if the metal links are slave shackles or something similar, and what kind of jewelry it is (has Silver Mexico) listed on the back of it. Thank you in advance for any information you can give me on my items.

Your iron relics are horse-related, and the lock is 20th c.

Not sure about the jewelry piece, but certainly 20th c. as well.

The jewelry looks to be from India or somewhere in that part of the world, and is most likely 20th century as BB suggested. The tiny sword is a scimitar which was a favored weapon of that region, and the person sitting crosslegged seems to have a turban on his head. As to the age, I haven't the faintest, but if it says silver it's a keeper :)

Are you thinking somewhere in the early to mid 1900's? I thought the lock was made around 1890, because the company merged with someone else in the early 1900's. Thanks again for the info...

Re: my finds from a 1790's log cabin/house..need some identification!

I was curious, because the lock and the jewelry piece were both around 7 inches deep.

I'm also trying to figure out what kind of gym is the middle of the fortune teller/jewelry piece. Is it sapphire or something similar?

I think the sword is a Shriner sword pin? I cant find an exact match but lots of variations. Hope that helps. HH :icon_thumright:

Depth doesn't matter much as an indicator of age. I dig cans a foot and a half down in a plowed field. Even lawns get landscaped, dirt added, septic tanks dug and plumbing pipes added over the years.

haha, well how old do you think the "Franks" lock is? 1890-1905 era?

Ray Stevens sang about a guy that had one of scimitar's. I don't want to say his name, it may be derogetory, and get my post deleted.......NGE

Everything looks like 1920-1940's to me. Just IMHO.
