Here is what I found today while digging at the beach. As you see in the picture there is what looks like a gun. Well I am not sure if it is a real gun or a fake gun. There is this hard black tar looking stuff coving the entire outside of it. I though maybe it was melted plastic possibly but not really sure. There is also the same hard black tar looking stuff on the others things you see in the picture. Does anyone know what this might be on the outsid of these things? Do you think this could possibly be a real gun and is it old? I appreciate your feedback and thank you for allowing me to share my treasure findings with you.

Do you know what I should try cleaning it with? Do you think it is just a toy gun? If anyone can help me out that would be great....cause Im kinda clueless. Thanks guys

Looks like it spent allot of time in water/mud
Let the gun sit immersed in vinegar for a few days, very messy, wear gloves. When the vinegar turns black, take out the target, scrub it with a wire brush(is it looks like rust) otherwise use a soft brush. It might take a week or more repeating this process. Or to do it quickly ZAP it with an electrolysis set up. (you can look that up and more in the "cleaning and preservation forum" You will get many opinions and ideas. Basically it's up to you as to how aggressive you want to get?
Cool finds!

looks like a pistol in a holster to me. good luck cleaning it up. not sure how to do that as i am not a sand digger. sure some on here will know. CONGRATS!

Can you post a picture of the gun with a size reference? A ruler or tape measure would be great. And, post pics of both sides and end views.
