I dug this button a while ago and decided not to put it up on here. But what really changed my mind was this- yesterday it was in the American Digger magazine and on the cover so why not! It's a War of 1812 era one piece US Navy button. The back mark is Extra Rich Orange. I flipped out when I saw the gilt left on it. Thanks for taking a look y'all! I colored out my last name and the name of the person I was with due to the fact that I don't know how he feels about his name being up on a random website haha. image-813684321.jpg Part of the article. image-2293891919.jpg

Sweet button man! It really is a beauty and after seeing it, I remember reading that exact article and thinking that it was a really nice find! Keep up the good work:thumbsup:

Thanks everybody!

I always thought that type was an 1820's era Navy button . Its a great example of that type , congrats.

You're the second person to say that. 4 people have said 1812 so that's what Ive been going with haha. Thanks

Welcome to Treasurenet by the way! Good luck and happy hunting

Congratulations on a great find and getting it published! Good Providence on your next hunt.

Awsome button! I recently found a similar one called a "forage cap" button. It too is dated from the war of 1812. If you'd like to see it's on my YouTube channel "Graysondigger". It's on the last vid I uploaded. The first part of the vid is the CSA buckle I posted here a few days ago. HH!

VERY NICE - WTG
