well, hears what happened to my f70 i lost the audio sent it in ,they replaced the lcd board, and updated the software?, when it came back it would not hit a dime over 5" in air or in ground, this is a detector one of the first out in march 07, and it would hit a ih at 14" deep befor ft service got ahold of it, called bobbie m and also talked to the guy who did the service no luck, after 3 trips in at 28.00 a trip it still was the same ,i ended up selling of the two coils i had for it and junking the detector.
do 'not get me wrong i think fisher has the best detectors out there, i have had the f75,f70, f2 and many more fishers in 39 yrs, and i just got another f70 thats works fine 10" in air and have dug 11" with it so far, but you better bevieme i will never send another one in to ft service for repair again dennnis in ny

That's too bad. This is the second similar complaint I have heard - having performance go DOWN after getting it back from service. I don't understand that one but if mine needs service I might send it to a private electronics person based on this. Does anyone know anyone that works on metal detectors? Ian

Heard good things about this company. East Texas Metal Detectors
you can google their page.I called and spoke with them last week,They
said turn around time right now is running about a month.I am sending
mine this week. :thumbsup:Maybe mine will get there before yours ;D
Hope this helps.

Should of gotten a CZ-3D. ;D

Doesn't seem to matter which older one you have, sending it in it comes back costing you $$$ if it is out of warranty and it still has trouble working like it was when you bought it. When my Fishers need service I will either send them into private electronics repair or deep six them.

It's a shame you can't count on the company who built it to repair it properly. And if you have to send it to a third party to have it repaired, what's the use in having a warranty? Fisher service used to be great, second only to Tesoro. I hope they get things straightened out in the future.

Fisher used to be owned by Fisher Labs when service was great. However now that First Texas bought the company service and the product reliability has gone down. There are many other horror stories on other forums.
