Howdy folks,

Not sure if this is the right spot for this, but seems like it should be.

I was using my Fisher F2 Friday night with no problems whatsoever, went to go fire it up Saturday morning and it completely spazzed on me! Changed batteries, checked coils, turned it on with no coil and all it would do is jump around. Has anyone come across this problem and is it an easy fix, or something to send it to Fisher for?

All help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Do you have a different coil to try out?
Like a 4" coil, 10" coil? One of those coils
(if you have one) could be switched out to
check and see. OR... the connection isn't
right on the money.

My first one was that way. If you bought it
new. Fisher Detectors come with a FIVE
year warranty. Just call them and switch it
out with a new 8" concentric coil!

OR... it could be that you might have under-
ground wires where you were at. I have the
Bermuda Triangle on the left side of the drive
way. And a non-Bermuda Triangle side on the
right side. And it has to do with the way they
laid the power line, phone lines, & cable lines.

Yeah, I switched around coils, changed batteries, tried a different location (initial location was on open field from cleared woods). It was spastic no matter what I tried, even with no coil on. Unfortunately, I bought it from a co-worker and the warranty only covers the original purchaser. Although, the customer service rep that we got hold of was extremely nice, and said to send it in and they would work with me when they figure out the issue.

How easy is it to open the control box on these? Is it something I could carefully do to take a peek at the insides? It's no longer under warranty or anything, so I wouldn't have to worry about voiding one. I'm torn if I should spend the arm and leg to send it to Fisher if its something that could be easily fixed by me or my electrical handy buddy.

Just realized that this was my centurion post! LOL!

HA! I was about to say... NOOOooooo!

That's cool. I hope they get things working for you. I love my F2's.

They should have it by Friday, we will see from there!

post pictures of whats inside for the rest of us if you figure out how to open it up.

Hahaha, I didn't want to risk it, I just got the thing and didn't wanna just burn the money that I paid for it :laughing7:

So to update y'all on the status of my F2. I had sent it in, they repaired it for me for free this time and sent it back out. It seems that the problem was in the switch membrane, so they replaced that and tested it out. I just got it all back from them yesterday and was pleased to find a fresh set of batteries and a couple of extra coil attach screws in the mix with my stuff. I must say, for my first time dealing with them, I will be a loyal customer to Fisher as long as they keep up the amazing work in the customer service department! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:
