Trying to ID marbles has become mission impossible. I'm not sure what's agate, what's glass, or what's older than the other, what names they are, etc.

Hello RR,

Learning to ID marbles is a long process, takes a lot of time and research.
The first one looks like a Champion swirl. Next is an Alley swirl. Next is a Vitro caged cateye.
The blue group, left to right is a chinese checkers game marble, a Marble King, a Vitro Phantom Conqueror, and maybe an Alley.
I can't tell much about the red ones, probably Alley swirls and the last is some kind of patch but I can't see the seams to tell who made it.
Next group I can't tell what the first one is, then an Akro, then the rest are different kinds of Vitros.
Last group, two green swirls of some kind, not enough to go by in the one pic. Then two champions, then a Vitro All-red.
Hope that helps.

Mr cheese,.......

You are on your game,...... hats off.

Can marbles be valuable ?

Marbles can be valuable. And to Cheese, Cudos! I bought a small book on marbles, you can also look on Ebay to see different types of them. An agate marble is made from real rock - agate - so they have a totally different look than glass ones. And to add to the confusion some marbles are called agates but are made from glass. At least I knew that one!

Thanks very much for the help. I get confused with companies, and exact patterns, unless it's with CW ammunition...

I'm best on Colonial items, but can guess pretty well on CW ammo too, plus I have all the books...

Now that's something I'm going to have to look at.

I need to gather mine see if I got a good one or two

I think I have a few $5 kind. Not like a few of the $2,000 plus ones I saw sold on Ebay.

I have about 6 quart mason jars full of marbles that I got from my brother when he passed. Some of them have been posted here and cheese IDed them. Now, I have to go through the jars and find those.
