Ok guys, I'm hoping to get a camera soon so I can post pictures along with my finds. This was my second time ever to go out metal detecting as I just bought an Ace 250 and headphones, but haven't gotten a pinpointer yet, which I feel would probably speed up the digging process.

Anyway, at 1:30AM I decided to take a study break from Thermo. Physical Chemistry, and walked to the park that borders the back edge of my house. This park is also attached to an elementary school. I started out in the sand volleyball pit; found a clad quarter and nickel and an angel pendent that I though was silver coming out of the ground but it's magnetic >:( After that, I decided to hit the tot lots and must have found some kids show and tell, found a 1957 Silver Canadian dime and a 1968 English 10 Pence (Bout the size of a half dollar).

So even though I didn't get silver on the angel pendent, I still struck my very first silver ever! Hopefully, it is only a small taste of what is to come...

Can't say I blame you for wanting to take a break from Thermo Physical Chemistry. Sounds oh so exciting !!! Just kidding ::) Cool deal on the finds, that Ace 250 will get the job done. Good luck in the furure and HH

Congrats on your finds, it'll pick up from here. Your in a great area with lots of activity in the 1800's. Check out the library for some older local maps or online through U. of T. map collection.

Congrats KK. It's great that you have a place so close to the house to hunt. Check Harbor Freight for a pinpointer. Not much money, and it will do in a pinch. After we get some rain, maybe the ground will be a little softer. In Bryan, I can only dig 1 or 2 holes a day. It's like concrete. GOOD LUCK for the semester.

Bill

Awesome finding silver so early on! Keep at it and the luck may hold. :)

@bsloan: Hey bsloan, I'm looking for a hunting buddy in the area, if you're interested, send me an email at [email protected] and we can get out with our Aces sometime...
