My wife and I visited her Aunt Molly in Monticello, NY. She lives in the same home her parents built in 1910 and has been continually occupied by a family member since. We asked her if we could metal detect the back yard and she said, "You won't find anything, but go ahead.". A few hours later she was made a believer in MD'ing. We found silver coins, tokens, buttons, buckles and other artifacts. After she saw what we had found she insisted we come back the next day and look some more. Unfortunately, we had to leave the next day to get back to Florida.
The $1.00 token is about the size of a fifty cent piece and we posted it in the Token Forum. The star (coin/token) is about the size of a quarter, gilt, and I have no idea what it is. One buckle is a woman's brass buckle and the other is a man's silver plated buckle. The coins speak for themselves and the Fire Dept. button was gilt.
