My Dad gave me these old coins which were my Grandpa's. Any help on some?
My Grandpa (Pap) picked up these coins while traveling during WWII. My dad just gave them to me a few days ago. I found out their was a coin show locally this weekend so I stopped by to pick up some 2x2 protectors to put them in. They were in a leather pouch my Pap must have used while traveling around during the war. From what I read, not real good to store them in the leather, plus don't want em bumpin' around in there.
I mainly want to know if anyone can ID some of them and make sure some are not too valuable that I don't want to clean them. I planned on GENTLY cleaning them up and storing them in the 2x2 protectors and then putting them in a binder so they can be looked at a little safer and not manhandled.
I took individual pics of them but wow, it was taking forever to edit/upload so I just snapped these pics...if any individual or other side pics are needed let me know and i'll take em.
I might even number them if its hard to describe them, we'll see where the thread goes.
Here's some that appear to be made of better metals:
Here are some that I imagine were made cheaply due to the war effort.
I already put these in protectors and figured I should ask before going any farther and possibly regretting it later:
This one is my favorite...I believe it's silver and has writing on the edge:
Thanks for your help.
