I know someone who tested the V3i before they came out and have detected with him before he can get dimes at 10"+ all day long, over at the White's forum you can probably still find his program just look for magic's program if you want to try it, you might need to change some settings to suit your soil conditions. HH

I like Best Data over Correlate myself. Seems like it gets a bit more depth to me. Seems like correlate thinks a bit too much and you loose the deeper signals because they don't match.

Thanks Guys. I also posted this over on White's.

Air tests won't teach you much about the Spectra. Some, but most goes out the window once you do ground tests. That's my experience wasting down time on air tests.

Ground conditions trump anything people may throw at you. So it is difficult to offer settings advice without being there.

One of the better changes to make that didn't make your settings list is resolution of spectragraph from default of 7 to a lower value. I choose "1" myself. I also prefer best data unless cherry picking. Wider variety of good finds it seems.

And I prefer to bring the v3i online starting with low RX and moderate sensitivity, then adjusting upwards as needed. The machine is very sensitive and this helps keep it tame for me by adjusting low and slow, just about like she prefers to be swung for max depth.

Force yourself to love stereo mixed mode audio. It's a handicap hunting without it. Especially at times when you want max depth. So get your SAT dialed in.

RX 4 can still bang a 6 inch dime under field conditions with the eclipse 5.3 coil in disc. channel, so dont think more is better with the V. It's usually not in my experience.

In ground tests are a must, must, must with the V.... because you're the computer that determines settings that other machines choose for you, and that will open your eyes considerably, at least it did for me.

Time in field. Time in field. Time in field. Patience. Persistence. Determination. That's the settings all V3i owners must use. 8-)

I agree with low Rx. I rarely ever go over Rx 6. Just seems to add noise and trash VDI's with no gain in depth.

I run RX 7 hit Indians at 9", but this is in mixed mode stereo

Good call on the rx, i was running my V at rx11-12 when i first got it. I Did ok ,found some good things , onde i turned it down and went over my sites again i found more then i did at the higher rx. my one question, i notice on your program the DC sensitivity is set higher then the AM. Everything i've read said to keep the AM higher then the DC. Am I wrong ?? i hunt exclusively in all-metal mode (stereo headphones broke) so maybe that is just right for me.

Man. Last night I typed a long 3 paragraph response, went to post and had timed out. Went to log in on another tab thinking I'll not lose all the effort, and then Chrome crashes losing it all....grrrrrrrr.

If you hunt in all metal or stereo mixed, and you want max depth, keep the AM higher than the Disc.

I don't use it for depth as much as I do increased sensitivity to tiny objects (earrings, thin chains, etc.), so I tend to run a 10 point spread, AM being the lower setting. Even with 10 points lower settings the AM will sound off deeper, and also on smaller items than the Disc channel can.

On one hunt I found an IHP at 2 inches that I decided to re-bury at 4". Swept the target and was SHOCKED the disc channel called it iron every time! I decided to stop hunting and figure out the problem. That became the beginning lesson on the limits of the Disc channel for me. That coin changed the way I hunt from disc only, to mixed disc. and all metal, or stereo mixed mode. I like stereo because the AM channel operates continuously without interruption.

I love mixed mode stereo it helps get deeper and helps analyze better
