Sorry for not posting much, but my internet has been on and off. The past few days have been excellent for CRHing, got 2 silver dimes (1964 and 1950), 2 40%ers, and a Ben, and yesterday I got a dream bag, $10 face of wheats, no rare dates but did get 5 Indian Heads out of it, and a 1909 (no S, no VDB). I was seriously pulling out wheats left and right, someone must have dumped a collection, the condition ranged from nearly unreadable to BU on some of the later dates. And today as I was asking for some halves (which were skunks) one of the tellers asked if I wanted a "funny foreign coin" I looked at the front and thought it looked French and didn't give it a second thought till I came home and realized it said 1863 on it and on the back it said "Millions for Defense, not One Cent for Tribute" I had found a civil war token! Sorry for the terrible pics, the ziplock bag contains the $10 face in halves, the wheat is a 1958 D, common, but in BU condition, and the other pic is my token.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I also got a 1962 quarter too.

If that token is genuine, it is in AWESOME shape. Good finds!

I hope it is genuine, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be since it is holed and appears to have been plugged with some white putty? I don't really collect civil war tokens and it doesn't appear to be a really rare one, but I think I've identified the dies for it,

If anyone has any info on these tokens like were they used in the North or in the South that would be appreciated.

The obverse and the reverse also don't line up exactly, I don't know if that is typical of tokens or not and if it adds or subtracts any value to it, or questions its authenticity.

Great job on the token man ! That wheat looks great! Looks as good as the 2011's I've been getting. :angry7:

Nice haul on the wheaties. The token is a definite keeper and a pretty rare coin to find at the bank. With a date that old, I'm surprised the teller didn't want to just keep it! :o
