My Chinese Fortune cookie was right!! Old Gold inside: UPDATE on Stone...
10/07: Got the stone tested, but unfortunately it's not moissanite and it's not a diamond. It's probably just glass, but it was worth a shot to check out. HH all!
Yesterday's fortune cookie read: "Old friends, old wine, and old gold are best"...
Fast forward to today. An old buddy of mine is here to visit, and went out detecting in hopes of some good finds.
The first, older place was a bust, but did manage two buttons, one a tombac with a design. Still need to clean. After that went back to the same place as last week that yielded some silver. Within 5 minutes a ring came out! It was about 5 inches down and was gold in color. Thought it could be gold, but packed it up until after the trip so it could be cleaned. As expected, finds weren't as abundant as last week, but still managed...
1943-S Wartime Nickel
1944-P Wartime Nickel
1949 Roosie
Some more Wheat cents but haven't gotten to cleaning them yet
Buffalo nickel - haven't checked it yet
Indian Head Cent - haven't checked it yet either
older junk ring
Got the ring home and cleaned it off... there's a stamp inside with an anchor followed by a "K". Actually found a ring last year with the same stamp. This is what was said last year...""an anchor tipped to the right and the letter K" used by Ripley-Howland Mfg Co. on 10K Gold Rings, Manufacturing Jewelers, Boston, MA, and New York, NY, USA - ca 1887 - 1912." So, looks to be old gold!! The Chinese Fortune cookie was right!!! Not sure of the stone, it's clear but has scratches so I'm doubtful it's a diamond. Will get it checked though just to be sure.
