I have been detecting for 21 years. This is my collection of Bronze Age finds. I spent many an hour searching off the beat places on hills and valleys .Near to water sites and marsh ground .This paid off. Finds include Palstave axe head ,sword which is broken as a votive offering. They are not the same sword as I found them about half mile apart. Some bronze from a bronze founders hoard .These were partefacts and were sometimes referred to as bronze cakes to be remelted. There is a bronze jewellers hammer lead votive axe ,dagger , butt end of flat axe and a spear. The spear still had the wood intact .I saved the wood and a local archaeologist did a thesis on this as part of his degree. It was dendrochronologically dated to about 900 BC.He argued to due to design of spear and date of the wood the spear could have been used between 70 and 400 years. I was told no organic material had ever been found with Bronze Age metal work before in North West England. This is good for the hobby! The finds have been on display in local museum . Thanks for looking . Matt..
