So, when my girlfriend asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, I said "METAL DETECT!" She said "that's not what I had in mind." So I had to actually spend some of my birthday doing the family stuff and some metal detecting.
After spending the morning with my son and girlfriend, I got out for about an hour to that spot I found all the silver. Right before I was about to leave, BANG! VDI 88 solid 8 inches down. Got another silver Washington, this time a '46.
Then off to my parents for some more birthday stuff. After spending a couple hours there, I had about 45 minutes of light left. So, I hit a small field down the street from my parents house. In the first twenty minutes, I hit an "Old Grandad Club" medal, an old arcade luck token from the fifties, and then, again just as I was about to leave, I get a sound I had never heard before. It was hitting around 86-88, but didn't sound like silver, whatever that means. 4 inches down, hit my oldest coin yet:
An 185? Large Cent. Yet another coin for my collection! Also, this beats my oldest by over 50 years.
The following weekend I went to my first club hunt. Walked away with 23 Mercs, One Silver Washington, Two Rosies, assorted jewelry, and found tokens good for:
1 1964 Kennedy Half (Slabbed and Unirculated)
1 1966 Kennedy Half (Slabbed and Unirculated)
1 coin case
1 loupe
Been a good couple of weeks!
