Hello all, I am brand new to the forums, and just wanted to share my best find. I found five dollars face value of rolled wheat cents that I was able to purchase for two cents each, for a total of a ten dollar investment. While going thru them, everything was average until the very last roll. I found my first and only 1955 double die cent!!! It was in great condition, and I sold it to a dealer for $1,000.00 dollars!!!! Not a bad profit eh? Just goes to show, they are still out there! have fun, and keep looking.
Jim.

It's very difficult for me to believe that any dealer would pay more than a nickel for that coin. Heck, I sold 3 1878 Morgans to my friend for 2500.00 (cc, s, phila) in MS-65, because a dealer only offered 75.00 for all 3. I think he thought I was stoopid, I still may have sold under auction value, but I only paid about 75.00 each back in the late 60's, and I needed the cash to pay bills. My friend told me I could buy them back for the same price any time I got the money.......NGE

That's a little harsh aint it? :icon_scratch: Maybe the dealer had a customer that was looking for that coin and he already had it sold for double that as soon as he found one. :dontknow:

Anywat, nice score on the double die and welcome to the forum.

I am refering to most dealers, if they think that the person doesn't know what they have.....NGE

Hard to believe yes but not unheard of, I am sure stranger things have happened. I would love to run across a deal like that. Congrats
