When i walked up to the table that this was sitting on i got really exited, and i got more exited when i saw the price. I only got this for $30.:hello2:. The silver hallmarks are dated 1798 and the maker is James Wintle, but Ive been told the watch movement is older. IMG_2644.JPGFullSizeRender.jpgIMG_2646.JPGIMG_2652.JPG

Wow ,I wish I could find one like that. Just think of the people who hands it could have been in.

Nice score! Did the mods move this thread from General Discussion or did you repost it here?

Amazing 18th century watch find. You were right to be excited.

A very nice, rare find. Question is, what are you going to do with it? A piece like that deserves to be restored by a qualified watchmaker.

In my experience, the movement is the real prize. If you can verify the movement is complete and working, this will greatly enhance the value. The only issue is any watchmaker or jeweler will charge you an arm and a leg to look over it and tinker with it. Great find!
