I was very happy to find this forum and know there are a lot of people like me out there. I buy mostly at estate sales with a little Goodwill and garage sale mixed in, and I sell mostly on ebay with a little craigslist mixed in. I deal in vintage "man" stuff like classic toys, technical equipment, sporting goods, militaria, and so on.
Last year I set a goal of making $1000 a month on ebay, after the purchase cost of the item but before final value fees. I almost made it, with $10K for the year.
So, this year, I've started getting to the sales an hour before they open the first day and standing in line with the other dealers. I'm trying to focus on higher value stuff, trying to find $50 items that I can sell for $250 instead of $1 items I can sell for $25. And I went through all the items I sold to find the items and estate sale companies I do the best on, to focus me even more.
In March I set a record with $1400, and then this month I am banging in at $1900! Woo hoo! Just had to brag and get myself motivated for next month... I hope it doesn't jinx me.
