Hi, I am still currently in Toronto airport and I just got back from a trip to Europe where I went to Italy and took a trip up to St. Jakob Austria and that is where I had my best hunt ever. I am used to not finding so much so this was an insane hour for me.

So this is what went down, we got to Austria to go mushroom picking. I threw my silver umax in a bag and said maybe it will work or it might not because of mineralization. Might as well have it your never know.

The first two days I don't really feel like metal detecting too much and its the third day at 6:30 I get up and rush out to a random field. First thing I dig is a little rock, and I then thought to myself "Great its nit going to work too well here." Second target I dig is a coin, I gently rub it and see a swastika. At the point my heart sank and I spit into my hand to help clean it up. I got very very excited as I always wanted something from Germany that was old with a swastika on it.

A few targets later I pull out what I thought was a bottle cap but was a seal and my heart drops again. I thought "Wow I am so lucky today I can't possibly get anything else." I then get another clean sound right after and I dig out my plug and I see what looks like a pull tab but instead is a very very old looking ring which is Roman. I was then so shocked. I went with the mindset of not finding much but was horribly mistaken.

Really cool finds.. That nazi coin is not something you see everyday..

Thanks! I was shocked when I got that thing out of the ground.

Very interesting finds, thanks for sharing them with us.

No problem guys :)

wow, cool finds. I would love to detect in Europe some day. I would be afraid I wouldn't find anywhere to go detecting once there though. Have enough problems finding spots around home.

I know what you mean, I barely find anything worth posting in my town. Its a lot more history and greater chances of finding older things out there as opposed to a town that was settled in the 1800's versus 1000 a.d.
