What was waiting for me in my mailbox after work? A Garrett Pro Pointer. :hello2:

I took everyone's advice and went ahead and got one. I'll report in once I've field tested it. :)

Thanks for all the advice, not just to me but to everyone that is new or has a question. I've been made to feel quite welcome and look forward to sharing pics of what I find and making comments on what you find.

Best,

I bought one a couple of months ago and have been very pleased. Good luck with yours and good hunting!

When you learn how to use it, then look up the trick with metal on the side to make it more sensative

I just ordered another one.i messed my 1st one up pretty quick! The rubber button smacked a rock and ever since is low and very light vibrations...Gonna let my bro-in-law use my old one! I will be more careful with this one. I did buy one even before that a 30 dollar one and got mud in button(cracks) never worked again! BUT it's much much better with a pinpointer indeed!HH

A great buy, you'll wonder how you got on without it before.
Yes the switch is maybe a weak link, I'm just a bit careful how hard I push it, and have had no problems in 4-5 years with mine...paint all worn off.

And yes you will see some have had problems with theirs, part of that is simply a numbers game as there are more garretts out there than all others combined, and of course some will eventually have problems.

One thing a friend of mine who hunts around salt water most of the time, found that when his acts up with the falsing problem he takes the battery cover, and switch cover off and make sure it is completely dry inside, and it works fine again.

A Def, must have..

I am sure that it will work great for you. Pinpointers save so much time, I don't know how we ever did without them. Okay I do know but don't wanna go back there.

Thanks everyone! I've seen a few videos online where people somehow attach lanyards or cables to their pointers. What are they attaching it to? The battery cap? I don't see any loop, and am not keen to "modify" it, at least not for two years until the warranty runs out.
