so i do my usual asking people if they have coins jewelry stamps etc.. it was a slow day only found 2 sterling necklaces then one guy i asked he said yes i have stamps, he went in grabbed a large box and showed it to me. i collect victorian era stamps but when i looked in the box among a bunch of canada post advertising flyers i could see a fair amount of unused stamps i figured a couple hundred buck or so(i do alot of mailing so its nice to get a deal on the postage). i asked how much he said 20 so i paid him and left,
wasnt till i got home and as i dug through the box i found a bunch of file folders that were full of sheets partial sheet blocks etc...all mint,
well i have been sorting and counting for 2 days now and so far im just over $3000 face and i still have lots and lots to go through plus booklets and souviner sheets and such.
at this point im thnking about 6-7k ,
the bast part is there are a lot of higher valuse stamps which make them easier to sell.
i will post the final count when i have finished counting which i hope to be done next weekend
for got to mention the is a fair amount of czech mint stamps also which i dont know what face value will come out at yet

Nice! I have books of my dads stamps. He was a collector. Probably can’t tell you anything about them but they’re in my back room and they are stamps. That’s all I know. He gave me an option 20 years ago if I wanted to collect stamps or Coins. Looked in the phonebook and decided to collect coins because there was no stamp collectors in town...

My bother collected stamps I believe in the mid 1960s. He passed away in 1972 and I have his collection in a box in the garage. I did once take a look at them, but they all had minimal value. I'm just hanging on to them as a memory of him. I also have a Roy Rogers character watch of his that doesn't run, but it's in mint looking condition. I do recall the dang thing quit running a year or so after he got for Christmas.

Very nice! How do you sell these? I’m sitting on loads of $1 US stamps that have no collector value. I tried unloading some in an auction and got like 10 cents on the dollar. Does the PO buy them?

I picked up a large lot ($175.00+) face value of stamps that went back to the late 1960s. People will buy them to use but you won't get face value. I think i accepted an offer of about 75% of face value which was fine because i only paid 10 bucks for the whole lot.

If you sell stuff online, why don't you use them to ship your packages? Most 1st class mail is around 3 bucks. No money out of your pocket and the stamps get used.

at $4500 and still counting

Any pictures? The older higher value ones do have some collector value. Newer ones are used as postage.

That’s a great return! I just googled a bit and It looks like there is a professional buyer now who pays 50% - 70% of face value: https://www.sellunusedstamps.com/sell-unused-postage-or-forever-stamps

That would mean snowdog has $$$ thousands in cash with those stamps. Awesome.

I don’t use them to ship because it’s a pain in the neck to upload the tracking - so much easier to print labels. Lame, I know.

Great score and great info on selling! They pay 40% face value for older non-forever stamps and I have several thousand dollars in new stamps from an auction years ago! I love Tnet! Always great info!

most of these stamps are newer but there are a few old ones but mostly common , there are a few older plate blocks and postcards but i didnt notice anything of value except maybe a fraction over face as i make lots to sell i will be checking for some of the modern varieties but im just happy with the face value!! gonna try to get it all counted by the weekend

it was too nice of a weekend to be cooped up inside counting stamps so i didnt get eny counted, i did count some more today now im at $5789.49 got more to go!

ok finally have the loose stamps (sheets blocks singles etc...) counted and the total is $6060.44 not i have to add up whats in jarret albums (2 books pretty well full of mint stamps) and then there is a large pile of mint czech stamps i need to figure out, my best garage sale buy for sure!!

Huge score, congratulations! :occasion14:

well i finished added up the stamps and the grand total is $7000.86 , not counted is czech, back of book(postage due airmail provinces etc..) official stamps.
looks like souviner sheets sell for more than face value and i have tons of them, when all is said and dont this might be close to a $10000 score!! gonna now check for any varieties! then i will start making up lots for sale

I have soooo many stamps but most are foriegn to lazy to ever even think about going through em I dont know why I still even keep em
