AT Gold, 5X8 coil, Garrett PP

Equinox 800, 6" coil

Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I'm ecstatic.. first piece of shell art I've ever had, or even held in my hands. Didn't even have the detector out. This morning I was surveying a new hunt site where a farm house once stood to look for wells, cisterns, etc. (I'd be scared to death to fall into them). I noticed this shell art cap half buried in a pile of leaves and twigs. I initially thought that it was maybe part of a light fixture or such.
Pulled it out from under the leaves and realized what it is. Damn. That's almost like finding a big hunk of silver. I have no clue when it was made, and I can barely read what's on the flat side, but I'll get a better look later in the evening
One of the buttons is missing, and there's a crack in the bill. I'll just rinse the dirt off and leave it as is.

......

I was able to partially make out the stamping. 105 mm M14. And I'm guessing a date stamp of 12-55

They seem to be common. Probably not worth much in that condition. Cool looking anyway

Great find!
I didn't even know that was a thing! :occasion14:

That is a great find, congrats. Good eye!

Very cool. Primer looks intact, although I'm sure you won't be banging on your find. They may be common, but I've never seen one. It would be priceless to me, too. My daddy was a on a 105 crew in Europe during WWII.
