Don, I wish we had your soil conditions over hear in Pennsy. We don't find many of them in decent shape like yours. Here is the one I kept. It's in the best shape of any I ever found.

Found this in a yard in front of Lower Merion High School, long before Kobe Bryant went there. You know, the pro basketball player. Anyway it was less than an inch in the ground. I got a feeling some kid stole it out of his dad's collection and lost it at school.

Awsome find, she's a beauty.
I have had a few of those "Daddy's coin collection"
finds at schoolyards this year.

Great digs, congrats! Thanks for sharing.

Smiles!

Beautiful coin!! Yeah it's too bad PA is so rough on copper normally. Same thing with northern NJ, where I found an Indian head cent that was almost completely gone. Eats 'em up pretty quick.

Nice find! I bet the person did steal it out of their dads collection and lost it at school! :)

That is a real nice one bob.

that is in great shape! here in delaware the soil is vicious to copper coins. usually large cents are nothing more than slugs. :(

My kid even thinks of touching a large cent in that condition I'm sending him to Saudi Arabia for trial and sentencing. They don't do it with a sword anymore. At least now they cut off hands surgically...higher survival rate.
