I got back out for a couple hours this afternoon to the stand by field where I found the 1722 French silver last weekend. This is a huge site but it's getting pretty quiet. I did manage to pick up a barrel tap in great condition...my best yet. It would be perfect if the actual tap piece were there. On the way out I also managed this British General Service button...at least that's what I think it is. It's a little squished but I don't have a better one so I am happy with that! Sorry for the crappy pics...overcast here, no sun.

Its not normally a tap, its a key. What does the top look like, as you can buy a key.

Key...that's what I was trying to think of. It's square.

Great looking tap Romeo. The key varies from different taps, but as you can see in this photo, some can be quite ornate. Great button by the way

Nice Tap and button
I have one tap, squashed so flat, I thought it was a mallet :laughing9:

Nice finds there :icon_thumright: ...got a complete barrel tap last year..

Sorry forgot to say, you're right with the button & it's post-1902. :icon_thumright:

Very interesting finds there romeo-1! :notworthy:
Sure wish that I had a . . .
'stand by field where I could find a 1722 French Sol silver coin that's getting pretty quiet!' :laughing7:

I can literally stand by 50 fields that have given up great finds... but it usually doesn't do much for you other than to wish the stuff could grow back.
