My 9 year-old Son's first Real hunt

Took my son to a nearby middle school for his first real hunt. We've been doing practice hunts in the back yard, where I bury coins and he gets to keep them when he finds them. He did real well for a .5 hour hunt. Found some can slaw a couple of alum. screw caps, but he also found some change, 5 pennies, a dime and a mechanical pencil top (see the photo of coins before he cleaned them up, our ground is rough on zinc cents).

He is using my Cibola that I've gifted him and the more we use that machine the more impressed I am with it. Its a great machine and is making it fairly easy to teach a 9 year-old boy how to MD. Pinpoints great. Wish the MXT I've got would pinpoint as well. We're going to a nearby H.S. tomorrow where we're both going to be hunting.

My 8 y/o daughter keeps going out in the yard with her digging tool and poking it into the ground. When she thinks she can dig without dad's help we are going back out on a hunt. It has been way to dry here!

Tell him he did good. Love Tesoro they make a super awesome machine. Me and my Deleon still sneak out without the Beast (Explorer) every now and then.

He's only a couple of years younger than when I started but my Dad had no interest until years & years later when I started on the fields & brought home the Roman Coins. So he's now set up for a lifetime of hunting

What will you do when he digs a diamond ring better than any of your rings? Let me keep it, spend in on sweets, or tell him its a fake & take it off him

He did well on his first hunt and the hunt will only get better with his experience as well as your bond with him.

Hey Cane, I'm betting at his age that was a fantastic day for him. Better be ready though...you are going to be very, very busy taking him out fto find that "first silver"!
