My 6 boxes for the week

My 6 boxes for the week. Still wondering if I should do more boxes. I thought about it based on Bigheed's threads. Not really good results here.

Box 1 - 2 40%ers
Box 2 - Skunk
Box 3 - 1 40%er
Box 4 - Skunk
Box 5 - Skunk
Box 6 - Skunk

Where have they all gone? Definitely not what it was years ago. Some people live in the best area for this hobby and some people live in the worst areas. Wonder if it's worth it to do more.

If you are mainly interested in 'profit', run the numbers for time, gas, shorts etc. and determine if it is still worth it to you. I personally enjoy the hunt, and not so much the 'profit'. I would be thrilled if silver were to plummet below $5 and I could pick up mercs for 35 cents again (ain't likely!!). Maybe you should take a few weeks off or try to find a new supply bank. HH

Keep at it. I live in a supposed horrible area for CRH, and I found 51 40%s just today.

You might consider doing CWRs for a while. Im not far from you and did pretty well yesterday and today with 5x 90% and 11x 40% just going bank to bank asking for halves.

Yeah, that's an aspect I always seem to neglect. It's easy for me to call, order, and pickup. Another thing is that I don't usually carry cash other than picking up boxes. The only cash I usually have are half dollars that I'm trying to spend or get rid of. LOL

Not bad, noticed you live in San Fran as well. Half dollar hunting isnt that bad, i normally get at least 2 40%s per box on a 6 box order

I'm in the peninsula. 2 per box or do you mean 2 per 6 boxes? That's not what I average now. If I was getting 2 per box, I would be upping the boxes for sure. More than half of the boxes are skunks and every so often you get one with extras that make up for some of those skunks. Very strange in that's I'll get a bunch of skunks in a row and than I'll get one box or two with like 5-6 keepers at some point in the month to make up for the skunks. Skunks just get frustrating as hell. I prefer to get consistent 1 per box numbers. Maybe I should drive up there to get boxes. LOL.. Not worth the $10 in gas though.
I just wonder where they've all gone so quickly. It used to be much better a few years ago. It's not as bad as AZ but not as good as NY. Perhaps a little less than LA.

yeah sorry i meant 2 per box. ah nice man. I'm in SF but the banks here are a bit more tricky when it comes to half dollar orders. Id have to say dumping is alot easier than ordering though. I've had pretty good luck, normally going through maybe 5k in coins a month. im up to about 200 40%ers and around 120 90%ers since i started coin hunting in july. Agreed as to getting skunks sucks, i think my worst streak was 9 boxes.

Those are very good numbers. Your numbers beat mine. Are those all from boxes? Where do you get your boxes from? (you can PM me if you don't feel like posting it). Don't worry I won't drive up there just to get boxes. I'm guessing you included ones from CWR's? Maybe there's a discrepency between up there and down here but I'm only 40 min away. I've done more than 5k per month and your numbers still beat mine since july. You sure you're not doing 5K per week? Your numbers seem too astronomical for 5K per month. I do around 4-6 boxes per week (more of the 6 variety recently). When I did this 10 years ago, I only did it one box per week but always looked forward to it since I didn't get skunked very often. I did take most of October off. It is kind of strange in that every time I try to do more, I end up getting less in the boxes. The volume thing seems to have an inverse relationship.

You gotta do mass volume....youll have alot of days with 1-2 per box tops with alot of skunks, but when it rains, it pours, thats why I do as much as i can everyday.

Well I figure I'll give it a try. I tried to get an extra two boxes on Friday and the teller didn't even order it. It's tough work to just get these guys to order. My cash is somewhat limited but I can try different banks. I'll try to do some more this next week and we'll see what happens. I'm not expecting much. LOL
