Have only been in the hobby for about 6 months. I got my second large cent since I started and it's also my 2nd draped bust 1803 large cent. Awesome!

Found the same place I got the horse tack and 1880IH from on Monday. Hole I can find some more.

I believe it to be a small date small fraction. Looks like a G rated one goes for like 50 bucks...anybody want to give their opinion on what this would be graded?

I'd guess you have a condition leaning toward fine details , with environmental damage/dug condition . just a guess - Nice Find !

Methinks a strong VF when dropped. It looks like the curl over Miss Liberty's forehead is well defined. Dug or not, it is still a very nice copper. One of the Large Cent guys will have to identify the Sheldon variety for you. There are some pretty scarce 1803's.
Thanks for sharing,
Phil

Great find. I still haven't found a large cent yet and I've been detecting for a long long time.

Thanks guys, hopeful that one of the largie experts chime in on the new guys post. The other one I found this summer was all corroded and beat up. This one actually looks bent a little bit but nothing fresh it was something that happened before it was dropped or from the harsh new England winters? I love the feeling when I see these big bad boys in the hole or plug. Didnt realize it was in that good of shape....I just liked the fact it wasn't corroded

Nice Large Cent find for only being in the hobby 6 months. It is more about the places that you have to go, then how long you have been swinging the coil. And it looks like you have a good spot.

Well done and that's a nice looking DB LC  The first half dozen DB's I dug were so toasted I couldn't get a date... Could only see the bust. Oddly, I've dug 3 DBs this year and they've all been 1803 too. Must be a popular year.

Wow that's crazy!

I'm pretty happy with it. I went on a coin collecting page on Facebook and some guy estimated it to be somewhere in the 1500 to 2500 range.....seems unrealistic to me...but now I need to find a collector to bring it to and see what they say in person and maybe have it graded!

FINE LOOKING CENT PEICE .....
