My 2nd Half Dollar in a month & Semi Key Date IH + more!!!
Man I'm on cloud 9 people!!! I went out this morning for a 5hr hunt back in the woods where I showed Lookin4Seated and he found his Walker and my 1st coin signal I was positive it was going to be a quarter. Boy was I wrong, it was a 1952d Franklin at 2 1/2 - 3 inches (my 2nd Franklin this year)!!! A bit later I got an exact half dollar signal and filmed the digging just encase it was another half dollar, but it just turned out to be a 1944 quarter, both were about the same depth. Later I got a deep bouncy signal so I dug it without even thinking about what it could be. I was surprised to see a penny come out from 8 inches as everything else that came out from that spot was shallow. I quickly cleaned it off expecting to see a wheatie but I was pleasantly surprised to see a green IH. I looked at the date and it was an 1868!!! That is my oldest IH that I have found while metal detecting!!!
When I got home I forgot about the IH for a bit, then it hit me - I wonder if its a rare date or something... BAM I was shocked to see that even in "good" condition it was worth a good $40, and mine has partial LIBERTY on it. Sadly though it does have some deterioration from being in the ground all that time, but hey I was just expecting a wheatie!!!
