DugFinds-

Hey, my father found a small cannon like that one time at a spot in Virginia where there was a civil war camp but also other activities dating from the 1700's.Ive found a cut reale and he has also found several cut spanish silvers there.(not to mention all the civil war relics and some pretty ornate 1700's style buttons)there are also ephew grave stones, one i read the guy died in 1762(i think...it was before 1776 but i cant remember for the life of me the exact date)but to make a long story short, we've always wnated to date the cannon.Maybe i can post a pic and you could give me your oppinion? thanx

These cannons range from mid-18th century - early 20th century, so pretty difficult to pin down a date.

My gut feeling is early 1800's. The step in it is unusual & the only similar reference I have is a 2 step type dated to 1890-1910.

These did tend to copy the cannons at the time of manufacture, so if you can research cannons & find a match that is your likely date.

Sorry can be more help.
