First, let me say that I started metal detecting in June 2004. So 2006 was my 3rd year enjoying the hobby. I typically hunt from April-August each year. In Michigan, it is usually difficult to get out in the early months because of temps or ground conditions (i.e. snow) and Spetember-December is usually spent preparing for and enjoying my #1 passion...DEER HUNTING.

Either way, I did manage to get out 38 times. I also normally hunt older fairgrounds, trying to find the old stuff. Sometimes it works out...sometimes it doesn't. But...I always have fun.

2006 Totals: 38 Trips

1063 Total Coins: Clad=925; Canadian Coins= 40; Good Finds= 98

925 Clad Coins Total $74.10
40 Canadian Coins Total $1.10

Now...on to the good finds.

Good Finds Total 98 Coins And Are Comprised Of The Following:

1795-1799 Chinese Cash Token

1887 Indianhead
1901 Indianhead
5 King George Pennies
68 Wheat Pennies

1897 Liberty Nickel
1901 Liberty Nickel
1913 Buffalo Nickel
1925 Buffalo Nickel
19?? Buffalo Nickel
1943P Silver War Nickel
1945D Silver War Nickel

1898 Barber Dime
5 Mercury Dimes
1 Silver Roosevelt Dime
1 Silver Canadian Dime

5 Silver Washington Quarters

1935D Walking Liberty Half-Dollar
1943 Walking Liberty Half Dollar

Well, I know its quite a modest year, but still thought I would share with you all.

PS- I totaled 17 Silver Coins this year, but the other 3 guys I hunt with found the following silver...Jim found 114 Silver Coins, Rick found 86 silver coins, and Jon found 25 silver coins. Jon started the same time that I did. I guess we have a ways to go before we catch Jim and Rick. They have been Beepin' since 1979, so I guess you could say they have a lot of years under their belts. Maybe one day...

Thanks for reading,

Those are good numbers. You got some nice keepers in there. Numbers don't mean much - there are a lot of factors that play into the numbers. The key is you enjoyed yourself and have a few things to remember your hunts with. :)

Congratulations on a great year.

Time is everything.

Sounds like a great year to me. Like Mirage, A good day of detecting is a GREAT DAY. Out in the fresh air, no one to
bother you and enjoying the outdoors. It's like Deer Hunting, you don't always bag a good deer, it's the hunt itself.

Thanks for sharing your finds with us. By the way, is that the Deer you got this year?

HH, Ringfinder

Hey Ringfinder,

I shot that buck in 2003. It dressed out at 198 lbs. Had a 19 inch inside spread.

Shot an 18 inch 8 point in 2005, but only got two scrub bucks this year. Passed up 20 or so and then took 2 with my muzzloader in December of this year.
