I got to go out yesterday for the 1st time since I hurt my knee last summer in this same creek and I had a blast. 1st thing off walking thru what I call snake reeds/cane, a sow hog got up almost at my feet and ran off a short ways and stopped an then started popping her jaws. I drew my 44mag and was looking for her when I noticed I could hear pigs grunting all around me it sounded like. Looking around I spotted 8 stripped piglets all at my feet almost. They were to small to run off, so I backed out of that spot real slow. The heavy rains had washed out the beaver dams and I wanted to go down stream some more, but since mom hog was that way I went up stream. I went to work Friday morning at 1am and didn't get done till 1pm so in my haste to go hunting I left my camera. I only got to walk about 200yrds up the creek but I found things at every rock bar. 2 points,2 drills ,1 preform, a perforator, a broken hammer stone, a broken grinding stone, some teeth that I will have to ID and a 1gal freezer bag full of pottery with designs on some of it that will go in to a frame, also a lot of worked stone. I can't wait to go back !!!!!!! 1st walk 2-10-17 012.JPG1st walk 2-10-17 011.JPG1st walk 2-10-17 010.JPG1st walk 2-10-17 013.JPG1st walk 2-10-17 014.JPG

Ive got snow.... Maybe some more snow tomorrow.... Nice finds! I wouldnt know what to do about a wild pig!

Im glad i can check everything out that everyone finds on here!!

Great finds!

It's great there's no pigs here. When I was a kid I was chased on my bicycle, chased into a river on foot, and chased up a tree. If there was a sow around with piglets, I was bound to run into them.

Nice finds. I was once looking in a peanut field that hadn't yet lapped when I looked up to see a 250lb boar on the row just in front of me. He didn't see me since I was wearing my camo jacket and I chose another row.

Great story with your recent finds. I had a coyote run past me once, he was maybe 50 feet away.

Dang you hauled the creek back with you! Great day! Glad that knee is better. The beaver kits are starting to disburse now and causing havoc. I am surprised you did not shoot that hog and pull the back straps on your way out.

Wow! You sure did start the year out with a ''Bang''.

With finds like that I see how you hurt your knee.. haha jk nice finds...

looks like a great day, i love days like that. A couple months ago I was walking a stretch of isolated beach and when i rounded a point there was a large intact Billy goat and his harem of four females hanging out on the cliff side. He was none too happy with me being there and kept squaring off (he was down below on the sand) ...needless to say I gave him a wide detour...I have no idea where that group came from, they were domestic and had no business being in the wild.

Thats a ton of pottery finds. You must of had a few floods in your creek over the last year to wash all of that out. Ive about cleaned the creeks out I hunt it doesnt take long to do. Nice points and worked stone to.

I've collected pottery every time I hunt this one creek, at this time I have over 50lbs out of it. If it will rain 3-4in I can go back to the same small area and find just this much are more. Creeks in my area never run out of pottery and this creek is not one of the ones that has a lot in it.

You ever do any pottery frames in the shadow boxes of the more decorative stuff? I give them as gifts people really seem to like them.

Loved the story and the finds are awesome! Love the pottery! I haven't been out much in my creek due to things going on but on one of the sand bars there were fresh coyote prints this weekend. Thinking maybe there are some dens on the other side where the trees and brush are thicker. Your Momma pig woulda scared me!

Wow! You are in a fantastic area! I don't find that much pottery in a year. Glad that you're are able to be back out there again!
