Hiya everybody,
Went out this afternoon on my FIRST proper hunt at the beach at the bottom of my road, which I believe is
a VIRGIN BEACH, as i have Never seen another MDist on there in 4 years.!!! There are only a very few on the Whole Island.!!!
I just thought i'd share my FIRST proper finds with you all.
Was out for nearly 4 hours and by the time i got back my muscles were killing me big time.!!!
Think I need a tune up.!!!
Anyway, I found quiet alot today so here is a list:-

Enough Foil to wrap up the sandwiches of the 40 thieve's Packed lunch.
A half dozen Squished Lead Sinkers.
16 Ringpulls.!!! Damn I hate those things already.!!!
A badly corroded double Pencil sharpener.
? 7.90 in Loose change which is $ 9.42 for all you Convertaholics out there.
And I also found my FIRST RING.!!!!!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHH
It's not a valuable one just badly tanished base metal with a thin layer of Silver plating, but it's perfectly round.!!
But HEY.!!! IT'S MY FIRST RING. YIPPEEEEEEE. I'm sure i'll remember That one for a long time.
Not bad me thinks for my 1st hunt eh.??

Anyway that is my 1st Ever finds with my brand new detector (Ace250) and i am real happy.!!!
Hope the Photos come out OK.
Thanks to all who have encouraged me and given me lots of advice.
I SHALL RETURN, with LOTS MORE TREASURE.!!!......... I hope.???
All the very best to you all, and Happy Hunting.
Cya.
Ray.

Seriously, congrats on the great hunting...and about those stiff and sore muscles, they're just another pleasant reminder of all you've done.

Good find there Ray-King on the ring. I've been reading some good post on the Ace 250. I have one on the way being shipped as I type, should be here next week. I hope it turns out to be a good TH machine.

Hi there NL6,
Have heard alot and also found out myself that the Ace250 Doesn't like WET sand which is true, but Dry sand, it's great with.
I just wish i'd found this Forum B4 i bought mine, Because I live on an Island and i'm surrounded by BEACHES.!!! Oh well, You live and learn. Will have to save up for another MD that LIKES WET SAND.
Good luck with your new Detector and Happy hunting.
All the Best,
Ray.

Great first finds there!

A lot of TR detectors have trouble with wet sand, it's the salt that does them in.... A PI unit works wonders in those conditions, so I hear. TR= Transmitter/Receiver
PI= Pulse induction

A lot of TR's have a "mineral" mode, or button you can switch, and they do work, but I understand not as good a depth as a PI unit. Never tried one myself, so I can't say from experience.

Anyways, sounds like a good day, may your next finds be GOLD!

Congrats on your finds Ray-King ;D a few more rings like that and you will be able to buy a detector that works in wet sand.

God bless
Peter

Nice finds Ray and congrats on the silver! That Ace 250 is a great starter detector, I almost bought one just because I've heard nothing but great reviews about it and I have a White's XLT, a Fisher CZ7A and an old Garrett Master Hunter 5 that still works fine. I can detect knee deep in fresh water with my XLT, don't know what it would do in salty conditions. Just curious what island you are on to be finding Euros, surprised you didn't find any pre Euro coinage, I'm in Germany by the way. Welcome to the hobby, there's nothing quit like it and it's all good if you practice responsible detecting. The exercise alone is worth going out there, LOL! HH, Mike

I agree with Peter being on a beach you should have a greater potential for finding the goodies. Probably be ordering another detector before you know it, payed for in advance lol. It is a addicting hobby. Good luck and HH. :)

Nice stuff Ray King.

I have an ACE 250 too. Great fun.

Could that ring be platinum? Thin bands like that are often platinum wedding rings.

Hiya ALL,
I live on an Island called Tenerife, which is one of the Canary Islands, just of the NW Coast of Morroco Next to Africa. It's a Spanish island hence the reason for finding lots of Euro coins. I am finding a few Pre Euros coins ( Pesetas ) but they are in very bad shape and badly corroded and rusted up. But i'm still hunting for my first GOLD. One day though.!!!
All the best and happy hunting Y'all,
Ray.

Hiya Strand,
Not too sure about the ring being Platinum.?? but it sounds off and displays the same signal as a silver ring i have. There are no hall marks on it either to give me a clue but alot of the jewelery over here doesn't get hallmarked for some reason.?? It would be nice to think it is Platinum though. Thanks for the question anyway. All the best to you and happy hunting too.
Ray.
