Just my short experience with coins ive seen many in that shape that can get a VF + i dont think it would make MS its dug and a few light scratches on both obverse and reverse , still a great looking coin with out a doubt  ill give ya 10.00 bucks ? :laughing7: JK nice coin Dd60

I have found a few coins that fall into the $300-$600 range based on their condition and the Red Book value. I have not had any graded, due to the fact that I do not plan on selling them. If I had a coin worth closer to the $1000 mark, I would be more inclined to get it graded.

Your 1833 falls in the area that would make me consider it, if it was in MS, but VF it falls more in the $75-$100 range. If you are looking to sell it then you should consider it. Just my opinion!

Unless you plan on selling it, dont waste your time and money with getting it graded. I would grade it BC (Beauty Coin)
Congrats!

It has AU details, and some very light scratches about the face. I would net-grade it EF40 to EF45 personally. Its value is probably in the $75 to $125 range, unless it is a rare die marriage. I submit coins to PCGS all the time, I my feeling is that you don't want to spend $40 or so to get it back in a piece of plastic that says "Genuine" on it, or even "EF45". It wouldn't make financial sense. It's a great metal detector find, and why not leave it uncertified so you can enjoy it up close and in person, without the plastic tomb?

What you all said makes alot of sense.....I think I will just enjoy it the way it is...thanks

Good choice. Too much $ to spend on a coin that is just not worth grading. EF-40-45..."scratched" is the way it will come back, at best. The scratched qualifier takes about 1/2 off the value. (believe it or not)

agree with the other posts, on this coin it's not worth your money grading. It would be pretty difficult to get a dug coin into graded slab. Most would simply come back with a "genuine" grade if sent to PCGS.

If you want to project it more, try something harder like an Air-Tite holder.
