Hi all,

Got my MXT from Tony Last Sat. ;D Thank you Tony. It dose not stop to amaze me. The first day out I found a musket ball. I think its a modern slug my dad thinks different. Went to the old school/park where I found my first dateless buffalo. I found....Nothing there. I went to my friends old Hospital, Preforming Arts Center and more now a home. This is where I have been pulling lots of wheat's with my bounty hunter. My first signal was a 1952 SILVER DIME!! Woohoo!! My first Silver Coin!! Three years and $1000 later I find a silver coin ;D Next I found another slug. Then a buck! Later that afternoon I dug a 1927 Buffalo Nickle in great condition maybe even AU Wow! What a lucky day next time I have a day like that I will play the lottery.

Keep @ it and HH!!

Keep @ it and HH!!

way to go mud!!!!!!! i know how long you have been looking for silver! maybe there was something up with your bounty hunter. now if i remember right, didnt you live in an old school from the 1800s? ;) ;D

great finds

That does it, I'm getting a Whites. There isn't another detector on the market that can find greenbacks the way the MXT can. Imagine how many $20's (and $100's!) are out there just under the surface...I'll have that sucker paid for in no time! ;) ;)

Just kiddin' MUD. Nice finds and congrats on the first silver. I'm looking forward to seeing more finds with that great machine.

MUD(S.W.A.T),

Congrats on your haul!

Question: New at this, so pardon my ignorance. About 10 years ago when my father passed on, I found several dateless buffalo nickels in an old coin purse he used to carry around. What is the significance of the nickels not having a date?
Thanks for the info in advance.

Hi all,

Thank you for your replys I love it. "hollowpointred" I do live in an 1800's school house, yes. You can find lots of bills hunting "mountainplayer" . The MXT is a great machine "TonyinCT" thanks again and thanks again everyone else for your kind posts.

"borninok" The dateles nickles are worth about Five Cents ($0.05) USD to most collectors. I will pay you a little more so I can make hobo nickles. However it seems I have the feeling your Father Liked them and collected them himself and had more of a value to him. You should keep them.

Keep @ it and HH!!

AWESOME mud!!! I know you waited a long time for that.Congrats buddy.Youll catch onto that MXT in no time.HH

Nice finds!

Nat

Mud,
Thanks for the info. I'll probably keep them..............Dad came up the hard way.......quit school in the 9th grade to support his family.........so, I, too, feel he kept those nickels to represent something in his life. Just wish he would have told me what.
Happy Hunting,
--Mel

If someone could confirm these are musket shots, and give me a value that would be nice. They are setting the way we think they hit.

Top one appears to be a rifled slug: zero to 100 years old. Worth the value of lead ($2.00/lb +/-)

Second one appears to be a freeze plug from an engine or a lead weight, but not a projectile.

I've dug a few of those lead "plug" things myself... In areas where there was no engine activity (early colonial) and doubtul on the freeze plug theory. The last one I dug didn't have the "impact" side like yours does, and I fancy it was just some guy who rolled the lead like that out of boredom.
Now interesting side to that is that it was a doctors residence that I was digging at, and I have recovered various pieces of doctors tools, so maybe it had something to do with that. Could have been a weight for scales maybe.

And I agree with Charlie on the ball. Could actually be 0 to 250+ years old. I found a nice musket ball down on Roanoke Island just a few weekends ago that was the nicest looking ball I have ever recovered, and I've dug some out of fields close to my house that looks like they have been shot through something than chewed on. Musket balls are near impossible to actually date, I usually just put them in with all the other ones I have.
Someone told me the value of those musketballs are like $2 to $12 a piece... Something like that.
